    Description
Juma is seeking a Textile designer with a strong background in product development to join our creative studio in Balerna, Switzerland. This role is ideal for a designer with solid experience in developing products — from concept to production — with a deep understanding of materials, form, function, and aesthetics, and ideally a sensitivity to the language of interior design and architecture. Projects will span from bespoke pieces to full product lines.

    Key responsibilities

    • Develop innovative and functional product concepts that reflect Juma’s design ethos and meet client requirements
    • Lead the full design process: from initial research and ideation through to prototyping, technical development and production follow-up
    • Work closely with architects, interior designers, engineers, and artisans to ensure the integration of the product into spatial or brand contexts
    • Select and specify appropriate materials, finishes, and production techniques
    • Create technical drawings, 3D models and prototypes to communicate and validate design intent
    • Oversee supplier and manufacturer coordination, supporting quality control and feasibility assessments
    • Keep up to date with trends in product, material innovation, design culture, and contemporary interiors
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting both creative and technical deadlines

    Requirements

    • Minimum 1/2 years of experience in Textile design or industrial design
    • Proven experience in developing physical products from concept to production
    • Strong knowledge of design processes, materials, manufacturing methods, and technical development
    • Excellent skills in 2D/3D design software (e.g. Rhino, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite)
    • Familiarity with prototyping techniques and product testing workflows
    • Outstanding aesthetic judgement and attention to detail
    • Strong project management and communication skills
    • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and liaise with clients, suppliers, and technical partners
    • Fluent in Italian (English is a plus)
    • Interest in architecture, interiors, furniture, and spatial Textile design

Extra skills (not mandatory, but considered a plus)

    • Knowledge of sustainable materials and production practices
    • Experience with custom furniture or bespoke Textile design for interiors
    • Experience working with artisans or small-scale manufacturers
